Tina Casillo has been employed at Bayfront Digestive Disease
for the past 19 years. She had
been the Personnel Manager for the office prior to her current position.
She had also previously been the Medical Coder for the office and is
also certified as a Medical Assistant. Since
1996, Mrs. Casillo has been an active member of the American Association of
Medical Assistants and in 2002 she became certified by the American Academy of
Professional Coders. Prior to
working at Bayfront Digestive Disease Associates, she was employed in an orthopedic surgeon’s office. Since
starting her career with Bayfront Digestive Disease Associates in 1991, her
role has progressed from the filing clerk and transcriptionist to the Practice Administrator.
“I’m
very proud to be part of this organization and of what we have accomplished.
To be able to provide our services with a high degree of
professionalism and competence is very important to me.
Our staff is composed of highly skilled professionals including
physicians, nurses, medical assistants and office personnel.
It is obvious that all of us at Bayfront Digestive Disease care a great
deal about our patients and making sure they get the care they deserve.”
As part of the Bayfront Digestive Disease healthcare
team, the procedure scheduling staff is here to schedule any procedures or
testing that the physician has ordered. Once
you have seen the doctor in the office, you will spend a few minutes with one
of our schedulers. A date and
time will be designated for your procedure and information will be provided
regarding the preparation required for each test. They are dedicated to
helping you understand all that is involved with your treatment plan and will
also answer any questions that you have about diagnosis and/or testing ordered
by the physician. The final phase
of the check out process is collecting the co-payment if required by your
insurance.
At our office, the message assistants are the patient
link to the physicians. A call to
our office will enable the patient to communicate with our message assistants
whether it is regarding symptoms, prescription refills, scheduling repeat
procedures or answering questions in general.
After consulting with a physician, our patients can expect the quickest
response possible. They are a
very valuable part of the Bayfront team and provide courteous efficiency in
serving patient needs.
Our billing department is knowledgeable and fully
compliant with the ever-changing insurance regulations.
Although the ultimate responsibility for the bill rests with the
patient, our billing staff tries to assist the patient in working together to
resolve any insurance issues.
Charges for visits and procedures are entered into the computer system
and claims are submitted to the insurance companies on a regular basis as are
payments received. The billing
staff makes every effort to maintain current information on the ever-changing
insurance plans but cannot know the details of every employers' plan.
Each insurance plan has a service department that can help the patient
to understand his or her particular plan and responsibilities including
referrals for visits.
Upon entering the Bayfront Digestive Disease practice,
you will first encounter the front office staff, which excels at giving
excellent patient care in a pleasant environment while handling several tasks
at once. Your insurance
information will be obtained, copied and updated if necessary.
If required by your insurance company, they will check to see if a
referral was sent by your family physician.
Your chart is then assembled in an organized manner to include your
demographics and medical history and then made ready for the physician.
Requests for medical records are quickly processed.
Correct policy and procedures are followed to ensure your records are
kept confidential. Information
can only be released with your authorization and signature.
Due to the large volume of requests, please be advised that we require
two weeks to process medical records releases.
Our clinical staff is here to coordinate day to day
operations ensuring a smoothly functioning office and good patient relations.
Duties include height, weight, blood pressure checks, taking the
patient to the exam room, and reviewing medications, allergies and other
medical conditions. They are a
valuable resource to the patient and in assisting the physician.
The physicians at Bayfront Digestive Disease Associates know the importance of having a screening colonoscopy performed. Our coordinator works closely with Primary Care Physicians to get health records, insurance verification and coverage for the procedure. Becky also educates the patients on the preparation for their procedure. She also coordinates the scheduling and insurance verification process for Remicade infusions.
